How a new support network is addressing the needs of composers

The Composer Wellbeing Collective was launched in response to the absence of a network of support for composers in dealing with such issues as isolated working, pressured deadlines and expectations, and physical and mental health.

The Collective aims to provide composers with peer-based support, advice, events and mentoring, as well as advocacy and impartial support. It also seeks to create industry guidelines and a commissioning ‘best practice’.

The Collective has posted an online video series, covering such topics as the role of the agent, social media, performance pressure and finding balance.
