The recently reformed Third Orchestra has announced the appointment of Hannes Nimpuno as creative producer.

Formerly orchestra manager of Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen where he commissed world premieres from composers including Terry Riley, Qigang Chen and Hans Werner Henze, Nimpuno is currently director of production house Shaksfin.

Now based in Berlin and Singapore, Nimpuno’s previous roles include co-managing director of production company V & P GmbH and head of TV and film company, Rhombus Media's European Office where he produced films including Berliner Philharmoniker: A Musical Journey in 3D, the first 3D orchestra film with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle.

The Third Orchestra reflects the demographic of its home city of London, with 50% of its members being Black, Asian and ethnically diverse and an aim to ‘dissolve boundaries between cultures and build acoustic bridges between style and genre.’ Members are also balanced in terms of gender and across generations with members ranging from 20-72 years of age. It was one of the first organisations to sign PRS for Music’s Keychange Initiative.

The orchestra's relaunch took place earlier this year (5 May), three years after its Barbican Centre residency.
