Angelica Suanno will succeed Paolo Petrocelli, who has moved to the United Arab Emirates to lead the Dubai Opera

Italian music institution, the Stauffer Academy, will soon welcome Angelica Suanno to the role of academic director. Assuming her new role shortly, Suanno will succeed Paolo Petrocelli, who has moved to the United Arab Emirates to lead the Dubai Opera.
Suanno, will leave the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome where she has held the role of head of educational activities for over 15 years to join the Stauffer Academy in Cremona. In her new position Suanno will use her broad experience to support the development of the next generation of musicians.
Stauffer Foundation president Alessandro Tantardini announced the appointment. He said: ‘We have selected a highly experienced figure in the field of advanced musical education, in line with the international standing of the Accademia Stauffer. I am convinced that Suanno will be able to coordinate our young, professional and enthusiastic staff with intelligence and sensitivity. Our team has grown professionally over these two years thanks to Paolo Petrocelli, whom I would like to thank once again for everything he has done for the Accademia Stauffer.’
Suanno’s experience includes the supervision of numerous projects, including the organization of the two editions of the Luciano Berio International Composition Competition at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Boris Christoff Foundation.
Established in Cremona, in 1970, by Italian-Swiss entrepreneur Walter Stauffer, the Stauffer foundation aims to promote music education for string players as well as Cremonese violin making and musicological research. The academy was founded 15 years later to support these goals, promoting accessibility by offering all courses free of charge.
Suanno said: ‘I am honored by this nomination and would like to express my gratitude to the President and the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Stauffer for their trust towards me. The Accademia Stauffer has always been a synonym of excellence in the panorama of high musical specialization, and in the recent years it has developed a wide-ranging international profile with innovative and diversified educational proposals of great interest and potential for young musicians.’
