Sony Classical has announced that it has signed Norwegian violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing. Her first release as part of this exclusive relationship will be the single Winter Meditation on December 17, and her debut album with the label will be released in fall 2022.

Sven Schuhmann, Sony Music Germany’s head of A&R and Project Development in classical and jazz commented: ‘Eldbjørg Hemsing is not only an extraordinarily talented violinist seamlessly able to connect with any audience within seconds, but also a musical visionary and explorer.’

Born in Valdres, Norway in 1990, Hemsing made her solo debut with Bergen Philharmonic at the age of 11 and has since recorded three albums, premiered new compositions and performed across 15 countries. She has performed with orchestras across the world and at the United Nations, the Shanghai Expo, the UN Security Council, as well as touring with the Norwegian royal family.

Hemsing said: ‘I am thrilled beyond words to join the amazing team at Sony, and to be among their legendary roster of artists. The creative expression and global accessibility offered by recordings are hugely important to my artistic mission’.

Hemsing works to bring classical music to the mainstream audience. As senior artistic advisor to Advisory Board for the Arts, she brings transformative thinking to arts organizations and artists. She also co-founded the Hemsing Festival and is the artistic director of SPIRE, an annual mentoring programme within the Nordland Music Festival which aims to nurture the self-development of young artists.
