Registration for 20th Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition 2022 closes 18 October

All those interested in participating in the 20th Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition (25 July to 5 August 2022) must register by 18 October. The competition is open to pianists born on or after 1 January, 1990 and participants can sign up for an audition through this web form (following the steps outlined in the Competition Rules).

The pre-selection stage will take place in March and April 2022 in Madrid, Moscow, New York, and Paris. From this stage 20 candidates will be selected to meet in Santander for the 50th anniversary of this competition.

The jury for the upcoming competition can be found here. The competition will also include guest artists the Casals Quartet, and the RTVE Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado.

The Competition winner will receive be able to launch their professional career with a significant cash prize, a CD recorded under the Naxos label and performances on the international circuit. In addition to the prizes granted by the Jury, there will also be a Special Award to the Best Chamber Music Performer and the Audience Award, voted by the audience in the final.

In the final round, held over two days, six contestants will be conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado and accompanied by the RTVE Symphony Orchestra. Both concerts will be part of the programme for the 71st Santander International Festival.
