Thursday, October 29, 2020

Arts Council England has announced that Birmingham’s Town Hall and Symphony Hall will be awarded £2.53 million from the UK Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
The announcement came in anticipation of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s (CBSO) return to Symphony Hall on Wednesday 4 November, as the venue opens for the first time in over seven months. CBSO music director Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducts the orchestra in a performance of Brahms’s Third Symphony, Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto and Ligeti’s Concert Romanesc: Finale.
On Tuesday 10 November cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will join the CBSO for a performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto, in a programme also featuring Beethoven’s Leonore Overture no.3 and two works by Sibelius.
