Khachaturian International Competition launches today

The competition welcomes aspiring conductors from around the world.

The 17th Khachaturian International Competition welcomes 20 young conductors from 15 countries. Competitors will conduct the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra during the first round, after which six will be chosen to progress to the second round.

Participants are required to conduct pieces by renowned Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, as well as music by a contemporary Armenian composer.

The first prize consists of $10,000 and two concerts in Armenia. The whole competition, including the opening and closing ceremonies, will be live-streamed on the competition's website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
