HarrisonParrott's live-streaming platform Virtual Circle, which launched in December 2020 will become the first to offer non-fungible tokens alongside traditional performance tickets.

Non-fungible tokens (NFT) are digital certificates of uniqueness, which prove ownership for albums, concert tickets, exclusive tracks - whatever the creator or artist decides to put up for sale.

The concert features the European premiere performance of Nico Muhly’s violin concerto Shrink performed by violinist and artistic director Pekka Kuusisto and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Tickets are £5, or £6 with the ticket bundle for the first 150 ticket buyers (increasing to £8 thereafter).

The NFT in the ticket bundle is a digitally signed album cover artwork by Pekka Kuusisto and Nico Muhly, and a 25% discount code on the physical and digital album.

The NFTs will be made available on the Ethereum sidechain Polygon proof-of-stake, which supports the NFTs with minimal energy consumption and environmental impact. Tickets for the streamed concert and NFT ticket bundles can be purchased from https://www.emusiclive.com/NCO.

Muhly’s Shrink (Concerto for Violin and Strings) was co-commissioned by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
