Founded by leading violinist and string educationalist Andrew Bernardi in 1989, the Bernardi Music Group aims to support charitable causes while inspiring people to connect across the globe through music and education.

Their year-round String Academy education programme sees British students be taught by highly regarded string players. As part of the scheme, young musicians get the opportunity to play with the Bernardi Music Group (BMG) at festivals and concerts, including this year's 21st anniversary of the Shipley Arts Festival. The BMG is composed of professional musicians from some of the UK’s leading ensembles and orchestras and aims to inspire students across the country; in recent years the group has raised over £3.5 million for charities.

Also founded by Andrew Bernardi, the Shipley Arts Festival consists of concerts and events in local churches, schools and stately homes. The festival has built a reputation for specialist commissions of new works by much-loved classical composers, featuring performances inspired by the Sussex landscape. This years festivities will continue until November 2021.

The BMG also undertakes cultural exchanges across the globe, with a forthcoming residency at the University of Macau. Bridging the gap between East and West, the BMG has previously undertaken tours to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and the Macau Greater Bay area, forming a partnership with the Yuyan art Investment Group – China’s leading design and art investment firm. The partnership encourages a cultural exchange of music with design; currently, Yuyaun are designing contemporary performance outfits for BMG’s future concerts.
