International artist management company, Intermusica, has announced the appointment of Dennis Gerlach to the role of senior artist manager, establishing a new permanent presence for the company in Munich.

Gerlach joins Intermusica from German agency KünstlerSekretariat am Gasteig, with previous positions including artistic planner for the Dresden Staatskapelle, and lecturer for the Humboldt Universität’s Concert Planning and Concert Management course, as well as roles with Wien Modern, the Grafenegg Festival and Wiener Konzerthaus.

Stephen Lumsden, who founded Intermusica in 1981 and remains the company’s chief executive said: ‘[Gerlach’s] wide musical and programming knowledge, qualities we value greatly at Intermusica, will offer exceptional and valuable support to our activities both in Germany and beyond.’ He added: ‘As a world-leading artist management company, we have long understood and appreciated the importance of the German-speaking territories, and as a capital for music-making in Germany, we look forward to adding an important presence in Munich to our international reach.’

Intermusica’s Munich office will build on the company’s existing bases in Berlin and Vienna as well as its headquarters in London’s Chancery Lane. Having celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021/22, Intermusica is using new technologies to redefine what an agency should be. The agency recently launched Amplify, a marketing and digital service designed to support the personal branding of its artists.

Gerlach said: ‘[Intermusica’s] international reach combined with creative, strategic management of artists is not only impressive but provides them with the kind of support that is crucial for careers that go the distance. I was immediately inspired by the vision that they have for both artists and the agency, and I look forward to being a part of this in the years ahead.’
