Concerts could return from 17 May, according to government 'roadmap'
Monday, February 22, 2021
The government has published a four-stage roadmap that outlines how lockdown will be eased across the country
The roadmap states that theatres and concert halls will, at the earliest, be able to return with social distancing on 17 May 2021 (stage three of the roadmap). Large events will be capped at 1,000 attendees or 50% capacity – whichever is lower. Outdoor events will be capped at 4,000 or half-full, whichever is lower.
These dates are subject to change, and the government has stressed that they will be guided by transmission rates at all stages.
If rates remain low, it is hoped that venues will be able to open without social distancing from 21 June (stage four of the roadmap).
