Arabella Arts: launch of New York-based artist management agency

Wednesday, January 13, 2021

The new agency, co-founded by Stefana Atlas and Samantha Scully, will offer an 'artist-focused' approach

The founders met at Columbia Artists, but have now formed their own company 'in response to the social and cultural events of 2020'.

The conducting roster includes Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla, Jeannette Sorrell, Elena Schwarz, Marie Jacquot, Katharina Wincor, Thierry Fischer and others.

Instrumentalists include pianists Olga Kern, Nicholas Angelich, Louis Schwizgebel, and Xiayin Wang; violinists Paul Huang, Philippe Quint, Alexandra Soumm, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Charles Yang, Julian Rachlin, and cellist Maximilian Hornung.

Arabella Arts will also collaborate with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter on special projects in 2021.

In launching the company, the co-founders described 'a model centred in core classical management ... extending into creative and holistic projects that complement and enhance artistic careers. These will eventually include, for example, collaborating with established and new venues and presenters to curate bespoke concert series and non-traditional performance concepts; forming media partnerships; and finding logical opportunities for brand ambassadorships and corporate sponsorships.

'Rooted in a deep love for the history and legacy of classical music, Arabella Arts aims to be a force in bringing the art form into the future by finding and fostering remarkable talent and connecting vital performers with audiences in inventive and engaging ways. Now is not the time to create a company for the sake of survival. This is the time to re-build a classical music industry that deserves to survive.'
