International classical music agency Intermusica has today announced the signing of Finnish conductor Eva Ollikainen for worldwide general management.

Ollikainen will join the agency’s roster of conductors including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir James MacMillan, Marin Alsop, Ryan Bancroft, Jonathan Bloxham and Martyn Brabbins. She will be managed by Munich-based senior artist manager Dennis Gerlach.

Gerlach said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Eva Ollikainen to Intermusica. We have been admiring her artistry for many years, and know her to be one of the most skilled and significant conductors of her generation. We are greatly looking forward to working with Eva, and helping to guide and facilitate the next chapter in her career.’

Having been artistic director and chief conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra since 2020, Ollikainen has recently extended her contract until 2026. Her experience also includes a three-year period as chief conductor of the Nordic Chamber Orchestra. Ollikainen made her BBC Proms debut with the BBC Philharmonic in 2022. Alongside debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra this season, Ollikainen makes her debut with the Belgian National Orchestra this evening.

She said: ‘I am delighted about this new chapter in my professional life, joining the Intermusica family. Although I will miss being in touch with orchestras directly, signing with artist management is the right thing to do at this moment of my career. I have a huge respect for Dennis Gerlach’s knowledge in the field, and I am very much looking forward to our collaboration.’
